Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is metal a good alernative for roofing?

A: Metal is one of the fastest growing sectors within the roofing industry. It provides a stronger, longer lasting, cleaner, and easier to install panel than asphalt shingles.

Q: Where to use metal panels?

A: Even though metal panels are most commonly seen on roofing, there is a broad area of applications that we can help cover – wood frame siding, steel frame siding, underpinning, soffit, agricultural buildings, commercial buildings.

Q: Is metal roofing an energy efficient option?

A: Yes, studies have proven that metal roofs take 20% less energy than conventional asphalt shingles.

Q: Where should screws be placed when installing metal roofing?

A: Screws should be placed on both sides of the ribs at both eave and ridge, and on the overlap side of the panel lap. Screw into the flat area, not the rib, making sure to keep the screw straight, not at an angle.  Generally the wooden furring strips are every 2 feet.  Do not over-tighten the screws as to damage the washer, but make sure they are snug enough to keep out water.  Calculate the number of screws needed for our Tuff-Rib panels by multiplying the total linear feet of metal times 2.25.
